Big Cursive F Letters
This page also includes worksheets with bigger than usual letters for kids who find tracing cursive F a bit challenging.
Capital F needs to be written tall and upright while lowercase f needs some extra space for the lower loop.
The bigger size also allows kids to slow down and focus on writing the loops and crossbar of the cursive f.
Cursive F Upper & Lowercase
This worksheet was designed to put the uppercase and lowercase cursive F alphabet letters side by side to help kids see the difference.
The uppercase F letter is consistent in height while the lowercase f is more slanted with additional loops and crossbar.
Writing the lowercase f shouldn’t be rushed as the top loop may stick out or the bottom one may be too long.
Additionally, the crossbar should be light enough not to interfere with the word being written once the F is done.
Cursive F 3 Letter Words
This page includes worksheets with short 3 letter words that start with F such as fan, fox, and fin.
They’re great for tracing the letter F and learning how it connects to the following letter.
In fan the f connects to a rounded a while fox moves into o before ending with x.
However, fin features the short i and n after the f, making spacing important.
They allow kids to develop good cursive letter forming skills while still learning how to write words.
The Story Behind the Letter F
Letter F has an interesting history connected with the old Greek letter digamma.
The F like letter was used in the Etruscan and Latin languages, and eventually made it to modern day English which explains why the letter still remains in use today.
It’s also one of the few letters used in cursive writing that has a more vertical design and additional strokes over many other lowercase letters.
