How to Draw a Fox

Foxes are charming creatures with their fluffy tails, bright eyes, pointed ears, and tiny nose. It is not a surprise that they are our beloved characters in nature books, winter tales, comics, and fairy tales. Today, you will learn how to draw a fox in 11 easy steps.

This fox drawing tutorial is perfect for kids and beginners who want to learn how to draw a cute little fox. The drawing process is super easy and straightforward: you will start with the big head, add the face lines, draw eyes, nose, body, ears, legs, paws, the tail, the face details, and color the fox.

The good thing is that after adding the fluffy tail, bright eyes, pink cheeks, and white face areas, your fox will look adorable even with minimal detail.

Easy Fox Drawing Step by Step

So, get a pencil, paper, eraser, and coloring tools ready. The blue lines on the images below show the order in which you need to add the drawing elements.

Step 1: Draw the Big Head

First, draw a big round fox head at the top of the page. The head should be slightly pointed at the bottom and rounded at the top.

Step 2: Add the Face Lines

Then, add the fox’s face lines. Draw two curved lines from the sides of the fox head pointing to each other at the middle and add a small circle at the center for the fox’s nose.

This way, you will get the white face area.

Step 3: Draw Eyes, Nose

Draw two round eyes above the white face area and finish the small circle for the nose.

Eyes and nose will make the fox’s face more expressive.

Step 4: Draw the Body and Front Legs

Next, draw the fox’s body and front legs. Add a rounded body right under the fox’s head and two front legs at the sides of the body.

Make sure the legs are rounded at the bottom and resemble paws.

Step 5: Draw the Back Legs

On both sides of the body, draw the back legs in a rounded shape. Make sure the lines are slightly pointed at the side and rounder at the bottom near the paws.

Such legs will give your fox a sitting position.

Step 6: Add the Ears

Then, add two big pointed fox ears at the top of the head. Make sure to add a small rounded shape at the middle of the ears.

The ears are one of the most recognizable features of the fox.

Step 7: Add Paw Details

Now, add small details to the paws. For that, add a few curved lines on the paws as shown in the image below.

This way, you will make the paws fluffy.

Step 8: Add Tail Outline

Next, draw a big fluffy tail behind the fox on the right side. Make sure it is wide at the bottom and narrows to a point at the top.

Fox’s tail is one of the most remarkable features.

Step 9: Add Tail Tip Area

Now, add a white area at the tip of the tail. For that, draw a zigzag line close to the tail tip as shown in the image below.

This will make the tail fluffy and add a special tip to it.

Step 10: Add Eye Details, Cheeks

Now, add the eye highlights and draw two oval cheeks on the sides of the fox’s face.

This step adds the final touches to the fox’s head and makes it look more fluffy and cute.

Step 11: Color the Fox

Using the image below as a guide, color the fox. For our tutorial, the body, ears, tail, and head are orange red. The face area, paws, and tail tip are white. The inner part of the ears and cheeks are pink, and the eyes and nose are black.
